Holiday Gift Guide! November 12 2014

We get it. Holiday shopping can be exhausting, stressful and absolutely no fun. Never fear, we at Nothing Too Fancy are here to help! Below we've broken down suggestions on just what to get for that person you can't seem to ever really win over with a great gift. Lets face it. Not much is more satisfying than getting someone something they genuinely love and will actually use.

Another great perk to shopping with us is that you're not only supporting small, local businesses and artists but also all purchases over $50 ship FREE now through December 22. So let's have some fun with this year's holiday shopping and plan to see some big smiles on faces on Christmas morning. Not all items are available online, due to limited quantities, but if you see something below and want it shipped just give us a call at 865-951-2916 and we'll get you taken care of!

Nothing, and we mean nothing, looks cuter on a new lil' baby than one of our tri-star onesies! Top it off with a blanket for the whole family to curl up under and you've got a perfect wintry gift. Put one of these under the tree and you'll be getting something that mom, dad and baby will love!

Here at NTF we love beards of all varieties, but sometimes those beards need to be tamed. Give the burly man in your life a bit of luxury with TN made beard care products or stainless steel pocket combs!

Its hard to know which albums they already have, but you can be pretty sure they don't already have one of these! We have these TN tri-star slipmats made just for us and they look fantastic on consoles new and old.

We all know one. We love them. But seriously, WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO GIVE THEM WHEN THEY ALREADY HAVE EVERYTHING? Perhaps a wallet made from a vintage baseball glove. Or a hand dyed, hand sewn wallet made of lizard skin using the two most easily recognized Tennessee symbols. We also have a great selection of vintage belt buckles, watches, soaps and hair care products.

They don't even have to be a snob...or a beer fan, really, to love these pint glasses! These custom designed and printed pint glasses are exclusive to our store, so you won't find these anywhere else.

Some women love them, some women hate them. This is one of our very first shirts and still one of our best sellers. Face it, ladies know what they're looking for.

With these locally designed and printed tote bags coming in under $5, mugs around $10 and locally produced state-shaped license plates under $20 you can check several loved ones off your list and still be under budget! Add in koozies, stickers and magnets to create a great little gift pack.

Moms are the greatest! And can be very hard to shop for. Why not go for a handmade piece of stain glass for her kitchen window in the shape of her home state?

Sometimes you just want to come home and put on a full body sweatsuit. Help your loved one cozy up in these locally designed and printed ultra-cozy pants and sweatshirts. People LOVE these sweatshirts. The tri-blend material gives them a vintage feel that you just can't get enough of.

Whether they've gone off to college or moved away for other reasons, people who've spent some time in Knoxville definitely miss it when they're somewhere else. Remind them of all the things that are waiting for them next time they visit!

Know someone who thinks the 1982 World's Fair was the best damn World's Fair to ever take place? Well then hook them up with a memento! We have vintage World's Fair Beer available in 6 packs or 12 packs and we also have pint glasses, shot glasses, a long-sleeve t-shirt and short-sleeve t-shirts for men, women, kids.

If you know a jet-setting, on the go type of fella, then maybe he'd like a new travel bag. We offer a small selection of guy friendly duffle bags, back packs and weekender bags that are perfectly masculine and useful. Field Notes pocket size notebooks are perfect for jotting down thoughts while out and about.

We have tons of great gift items to stuff in stockings this year! For some reason, as you get older your stockings seem to be filled with more and more logical items and less FUN. Stop in and see what sort of smaller items you can find to fill up those ol' socks. Some of our favorite suggestsions for this year are our Koozies & Shot Glasses, Switchblade Mustache Combs, Inflatable Beards, Candy Cigarrettes, Bigfoot, Cupcake, Bacon and Pickle shaped Band-Aids, and Breakfast Flavored Dental Floss. We also love ManHands Soap with scents like Baseball Glove, Brewed Coffee, Cut & a Shave and Fresh Cut Grass.

Well, its officially that time of year again. All orders over $50 will be shipped free of charge now through December 22.

Take advantage of this seasonal special and stock up on t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs & blankets for everyone on your holiday shipping list. It's never too early to start  checking things off your list!

Revisiting Triple Thread's Blog featured on Teen Vogue September 11 2014

It may be old news, but we just found out that local blogger, Ashlyn, has been frequently featured on Teen Vogue Fashion Click. Not only are we so impressed by her flawless style but also proud of her for getting featured on such a prominent site. Thanks to her styling of one of our most popular shirts (the Tennessee Tri-Star), we've seen numerous hits on our site from Teen Vogue. Additionally, her image has been making the rounds on Pinterest and getting us several clicks!

One of our main goals at NTF is working with and promoting local talent. Knoxville is chock full of driven, artistic and creative people. We've all known it for years, but its nice when we see others taking notice.

Congrats to Ashlyn and a big thank you to her for making our shirt look so good!

USA Today Said We're #4! September 02 2014

Amber Nolan, travel expert and author of this morning's USA Today article titled, "The 10 Best Shops and Markets in the Knoxville Area," did an excellent job scouring the area for some of Knoxville's boutique store gems. If you're looking to shop like the locals, then this list is the one you'll want to refer to when planning your day!

Check out the full list and article here. She does a great job of touching on several of our favorites and even includes the Market Square Farmer's Market. Each city has its own personality that is best displayed by its small, locally run businesses and these 10 shops and markets do a great job of showcasing the best of what Knoxville has to offer the retail scene.

We were so incredibly happy to be listed among some of our favorite shops and feel honored to be recognized! She mentioned our work with local designers and artists, so congrats to everyone we work with. We couldn't do it without you.

She described us as being, "...trendy and fashionable yet casual and comfortable."

We'll take it.

New York Daily News Article September 02 2014

Someone from New York City came here and thought we were awesome.

In the words of the author, Michael Kaminer, "Knoxville exudes Southern graciousness and makes a perfect weekend getaway."

We couldn't agree more. Check out his full article here, complete with photos and lots of shout outs to loads of local businesses and organizations.

We especially love that he liked our signature Eight Six Five shirt, had breakfast at one of our favorites, Pete's, and called Happy Holler a 'Southern-Fried Bushwick.'

A fun read and lots of positive energy surrounding our little downtown.

If you haven't yet, VISIT KNOXVILLE!

WNML Design Contest Winner Announced July 23 2014

The quantity and quality of the submissions we received for the very first WNML Sports Animal T-shirt Design Contest FAR exceeded our expectations!

There were so many fantastic options that it was extremely difficult to pick a winner. So difficult in fact, we chose two additional designs that we'd like to produce, if the designers will let us!

We chose the following three designs for their creativity, quality of design work and most importantly, that fact that they did not use any trademarked logos, phrases or images, as the official rules required.

If all goes according to plan, these shirts should go into production in the next few weeks.

Thanks to all who entered and to WNML for hosting the contest.

T-Shirt Design Contest! July 08 2014

Ever wanted to design your own Game Day Shirt?

Well here's your chance!

We're teaming up with WNML Sports Animal to bring our very first T-Shirt Design Contest!

Designs will be judged on overall aesthetic and team spirit. Use as much orange as you like, but refrain from using any official University of Tennessee licensed logos, sayings or artwork.

The winner will be selected the week of July 21, 2014 and will receive a $250 gift card to the store and a chance for the shirt to be produced and sold.

Submit your design HERE and good luck!

Nabers Helping Neighbors May 03 2013

Ok, so its a bad pun.

Last fall a local family hosted a group of tennis players from the UK. During their visit, the group was treated to a UT football game by their host family. Everyone knows you can't step foot inside Neyland without some kind of orange on, so Trish Nabers brought the guys by Nothing Too Fancy and let each one pick a shirt. They were photographed sporting their Knoxville gear while at the game and she was nice enough to share it with us.

Hopefully the guys are proudly wearing their souvenirs back at home in England. Thanks to Trish for supporting local!

You can check out her business, the dental practice of her husband Buzz Nabers by clicking here.

The Dirty Guv'nahs May 02 2013

James Trimble of Knoxville rock band, The Dirty Guv'nahs, took some time out this past weekend to stage dive a crowd in Athens, GA. We love the KNX shirt he's wearing! Nothing like showing a little Knoxville love while on the road. Looks like the show was a blast!

Former Knoxvillian Makes a Name for Himself In NYC April 22 2013

Former Knoxvillian & best bud of Nothing Too Fancy, John O'Grodnick, has recently been making waves in the NYC art scene. In addition to showing some of his paintings in Lincoln Center in March, he has also been spending some time at one of our favorite spots, 5Pointz. This massive graffiti installation is located in Long Island City Queens, NY and boasts the world's largest sanctioned street art exhibit. We love the way his Nothing Too Fancy T-Shirt looks next to all that great artwork.

You can check out his site and get some more info by clicking here.

Traveling Light Photo Shoot for Architectural Antics April 09 2013

We were excited to welcome Traveling Light Photography into our shop the other day as he was visiting a few places around town to photograph the work of Architectural Antics. Architectural Antics is a locally owned salvage & re-purposing company comprised of father-son duo, Dayton & Abram Hanford. Without these two guys, it would have been very, very difficult for us to have opened on time back in September.

Along with helping us build our counter, poster display and signs, they also supply our store with quite a few of the character building items like old signs, lighting fixtures and more.

Local Musician Jonathan Sexton Rockin' an NTF Tee March 26 2013

This video was shot recently at the Pilot Light. We like it for a few reasons...not only is Jonathan super talented, but he also has great taste! Take a listen and while you're at it, check out his "I Survived the Blizzard of '93" shirt!

"Medicine Heals the Body, Music Heals the Soul" March 26 2013

Metro Pulse recently did a great story on local band The Black Lillies. The band has really taken off recently and we couldn't be happier for this group of talented musicians from our hometown. We see Cruz quite a bit and are happy that he likes our store...almost as much as we like his music!

We were even happier when we saw him wearing one of our shirts by designer Justin Helton of Status Serigraph on the cover of Metro Pulse last week! Check out the full article here. This shirt fittingly reads, "Medicine Heals the Body, Music Heals the Soul".

Tote Bag Love March 26 2013

We love anytime Ashlyn features some of our items on her blog. She has great taste! And we're not just saying that because she likes our stuff.

Check out her latest post here where she features one of our tote bags. Many of you have probably have gotten one of these little gems as we give away a free one with each purchase over $50. Just one way we can show you how much we appreciate your business!

Love her shoes, too.

Best of Knoxville 2013 Voting March 14 2013

The local independent weekly, Metro Pulse, conducts a pretty intense poll each year to determine which of Knoxville's businesses and people and places are favorites among Knoxvillians. This year we are officially in the running and would love it if you would take a few minutes to vote for us in as many categories as you feel necessary.

Triple Thread Fashion Blog March 09 2013

We love the way our shirt was featured in this fantastic local blog. Ashlyn does a great job, check it out.
