Long gone are the days of reserving your comfiest t-shirts for athletic and sleep-wear, and Knoxville’s style scene has since adopted the graphic t-shirt as a constant staple for any and every occasion. Nothing Too Fancy t-shirts are inspired by the city itself, and by the inherently cool style that constantly surrounds our storefront downtown. To celebrate Knoxville style and the arrival of summer, I wanted to share some of the outfits that I’ll be wearing all season long, starring some NTF originals.

The NTF Tri-Star tee is a year-round Tennessee staple, and a pair of well-worn mom jeans are basically the pants equivalent of a super soft t-shirt, yeah? With some ankle boots and a hat to top it all off, you’ll be backyard bbq or bar patio ready, and honestly, where else would you be this summer? I’ll be rotating tees with this outfit all summer long and well into fall. Here, I’m wearing a youth sunsphere tee (see morekid’s shirts here) and orange tri-star unisex tee (here).

This Patron Saint of the Smokies t-shirt is probably my most-worn apparel item of the last year, and I love how it goes with literally everything. Of course, any chance to work Dolly into an outfit is a chance I’d take. For this summer, I like it with these super flared floral pants (so comfy) trusty ankle boots, a denim jacket and bandanna to top it all off. Perfect for everything from  brunch in Market Square to a late night in the Old City. You can see all of our Dolly Parton shirts and more here!

This new Knox Pennant tee is a little bit retro, a little bit collegiate, and super versatile. I styled it with a black denim mini, a western-style belt, slip-on leopard sneakers, and a dusty pink blazer. I’m always reach for this outfit when I’m planning to walk around downtown, and replace the slip-ons with some black heels for a Gay St. date night. This outfit is definitely a staple for me - I’ll even add some tights and swap the sneakers for boots this fall. You can find this shirt here.

Knoxville is a good mix of polished and scruffy, and that formula applies well to style, too. This vintage slip dress is a little fancy by itself, but (in staying true to our name) I dressed it down for the daytime. I layered it over last summer’s Knoxville Pride tee and metallic silver flats and was ready to spend the afternoon wandering the Farmer’s Market. You can find this year’s Knoxville Pride shirts here.

I hope this helps you feel inspired to put together your own fun t-shirt looks this summer. We’d love to see how you wear your favorite Nothing Too Fancy t-shirts, so be sure to tag us on Instagram (@nothingtoofancy) for a chance to be featured! A super special thank you goes out to the photographer of this shoot, Ryan Hull, and to his adorable daughter/camera assistant.
